‘NEVER AGAIN’ ASSOCIATION AND DOSPEL KATOWICE FOOTBALL CLUB EDUCATE AGAINST RACISM
The ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association, an anti-racist organization, and DOSPEL Katowice, a leading Polish football club, have reached a formal agreement on co-operation in promoting positive attitudes among football fans. Joint activities will promote anti-racism and tolerance under the slogan ‘Let’s Kick Racism Out Of The Stadiums’.
The first joint initiative was the regional inter-school football tournament ‘Let’s Kick Racism Out Of The Stadiums’. The final was played at the DOSPEL stadium in Katowice on 18 May 2003, immediately preceding the League game DOSPEL-Wisla Krakow (Wisla is currently the leading team in the Polish League, DOSPEL being the second). The tournament involved twelve under-12 teams of boys representing primary schools and orphanages. All participants received anti-racist material, and members of the winning team received tapes with the ‘Let’s Kick Racism Out Of The Stadiums’ music compilation.
In addition, anti-racist leaflets were distributed together with tickets for the DOSPEL-Wisla League game.
The event was covered by several national television and radio stations.
