20:00-21:30 (Bangkok, Phnom Penh) / 19:30-21:00 (Yangon time) / 15:00-16:30 (Warsaw, CEST)

Please join the next meeting ‘Confronting Denial: How Do Museums Deal with Genocides?’ in the series of online meetings for museums, memorial sites, and civil society within the project entitled ‘Identifying and countering Holocaust distortion. Lessons for and from Southeast Asia’ organised by the ‘NEVER AGAIN’ Association and supported by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and Heinrich Boell Stiftung Cambodia. During the meeting, we will discuss how we can look at contemporary genocides, and what are the challenges in telling the stories of right now where history is unfolding more or less before our eyes. Our guest speaker will be Sarah Lumbard who is the Director of Museum Experience and Digital Media at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Sarah Lumbard leads Museum storytelling across the Museum’s digital and physical spaces. Her responsibilities include setting vision and strategy and overseeing the development of new, innovative storytelling experiences. Recent new experiences include the in-person and online exhibition ‘Burma’s Path to Genocide’, the Museum’s podcast ‘12 Year’s the Shook the World’, and reimaging the Museum’s premier online resource, the Holocaust Encyclopedia. Ms Lumbard came to the Museum after five years at NPR where she led strategy across the News, Programming, and Digital divisions. Prior to that, Lumbard led NPR digital product and partnership development. She has also held lead product and business development roles at Webs.com and WashingtonPost.com. She holds an MBA from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College in Claremont, CA.
